Salary: £30,291 FTE, pro rata £13,720  to reflect term time only/part time

The role:

Sutton High School is seeking an organised, dynamic and multi-skilled technician with a genuine passion for the Performing Arts to join our thriving school community.

As Performing Arts Technician, you will provide high-quality technical support for all performance work and events across the school, including theatre, music, dance and a range of other events. You will take responsibility for managing technical resources, programming lighting and operating sound for productions, ensuring that every performance is delivered to a professional standard.

The role involves supporting all aspects of production, including rigging and de-rigging, lighting, sound, AV equipment, staging and seating layout changes. You will oversee get-ins and get-outs and ensure that all equipment is prepared and in place ahead of performances and school events.

In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will provide administrative support to the Drama and Music Departments, assisting with event management, bookings and scheduling. You will also play an important role in maintaining and organising backstage areas, including the stage, lighting and sound control boxes, dressing rooms and storage spaces, ensuring that technical equipment and workspaces are kept clean, safe and in good order at all times.

We are looking for a technician with training or a qualification in technical theatre who has sound knowledge of theatre equipment and processes, alongside an awareness of current health and safety regulations. Experience of operating and programming both lighting and sound consoles on a variety of productions is also essential. You will need to be flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends when required to support performances and events.
